A ring bearer doggie for a beautiful rustic barn wedding
Today we share the beautiful story and images from a rustic and relaxed wedding at The Oak Tree of Peover in Cheshire. This story is an inspirational read as the bride suffers from anxiety and wedding planning and the thought of walking down the aisle was no easy journey. But anxiety and all it all came together perfectly, with minimal on the day stress, amazing suppliers and yummy pizza.
Ruth and Paul met on social media, after both just coming out of long relationships it was a hesitant meet at a coffee shop but totally worth it! Now … years on they are in love, married and have brought a cute little one into the world.
Ruth gave birth to Oscar on Valentines day 2016 after which they had arranged a new baby photoshoot with photographer and family friend Andy. Somehow in the madness of a new born Paul managed to organise and ring and discuss with Andy his plans! During the photoshoot Paul got down on bended knew to propose… Ruth thought it was a pose and so joined him! Andy told her to stand up and captured the moment Paul proposed and she said yes!
As an anxiety sufferer there was a lot of procrastination from Ruth and unsurity on how she would feel with everyone watching her walk down the aisle. One good thing was she is my sister! And so got to try on lots of wedding dresses, visit lots of fairs for ideas and chats and have some moral support during the planning.
Managing the anxiety
Ruth worked with amazing florist Min from Smokebush floral who was super patient with Ruth and her decision making. Ruth and Paul booked food that they know Ruth’s anxiety can manage and just happened to be Ruth’s favourite - PIZZA! The super nice and tasty Pizza Principles provided amazing grub to the tables on the day. Ruth decided that she wanted to walk down the aisle with her dad but in front of a minimum crowd, so it was an immediate family service.
There were so many pretty dresses in Ruth’s life during the wedding planning, and it didn’t help when I took her to the White Gallery buying event too!! But in the end we jointly designed her simple gown that had some last minute changes! What started out as a boho lace dress became a simple silk crepe number. Teamed with something borrowed belt and Charlotte Mills shoes and hair accessories by Glorious By Heidi.
Ruth and Paul decided to hire stunning decorations from Flossies Wedding, who also decorated the room for the ceremony and then the wedding breakfast. This took the pressure off Ruth and Paul on the day amd was a great way to keep the wedding eco friendly as there was no waste from their decorations.
The super tasty pizza was all delivered to tables on wooden platters and guests used eco friendly bamboo plates from Little Cherry there were no plastic straws, and dessert was an ice-cream cart and wedding cake. Yum yum! The cake was made by a relative who is a professional wedding cake maker. Don’t forget to use relatives to assist if you can!
The Ring Bearer
Ruth’s best buddy was walked down the aisle with another best buddy bearing the rings. Mostly well behaved!
A sad story here as Andy was the wedding photographer but he tragically passed away unexpectedly a few weeks before the wedding. No one else could fill his shoes but his amazing and talented business partner and best friend Gemma promised to honour the booking and shoot the wedding as planned and Charlotte Palazzo a local photographer and friend stepped in as the second shooter. The two of them did an amazing job. Gemma is now taking bookings a Tribe Photography and we love her earthy and rustic style.
